About Us:
First Baptist Church Mart is a small, rural, community-minded church in Mart, Texas, about 20 miles east of Waco, Texas in McLennan County. Our Sunday services typically range from 30 to 45 attendees, with about 35 being active members. Our church prioritizes discipleship and fellowship, and while our current programs focus most on children and youth, we are excited to grow in other areas as well. Our mission is to equip the saints for the work of ministry and build up the body of Christ.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a nurturing and dedicated full-time pastor to lead our congregation.
He will:
- Lead worship services and deliver sermons that convey deep spiritual truths with a gentle spirit
- Live in the church’s parsonage as part of the compensation package
- Oversee all day-to-day church operations and employees
- Provide counseling and support to individuals and families
- Be proactive in initiating and developing church programs and activities alongside church members
- Lead Vacation Bible School first week after school is let out for the year
- Establish relationships with leaders of other churches in the community and encourage inter-church activities
- Regularly visit and/or check in with members (both active and inactive) and visitors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (appropriate or similar experience will be considered)
- Seminary preferred, but not required
- At least 5 years of experience working in church ministry

- Be able to recognize and value the spiritual gifts of others and encourage the use of those gifts within the church.
- Emphasize evangelism and the importance of lifestyle witnessing
- Develop new relationships easily, becoming rooted and actively involved in our church and community
- Favor expository preaching in a way that is clear and understandable
- Live a life that visibly displays the fruit of the Spirit
- Officiate weddings and funerals
- The Pastor, when possible, shall moderate all business meetings of the church, operating within the By-Laws of First Baptist Church of Mart.
- Work with various standing and special committees in accomplishing their respective duties, as specified within the By-Laws of First Baptist Church of Mart
- The Pastor is allowed 2 weeks of vacation with the church paying supply
